So I beta tested it today and figured I'd give some feedback on what I thought of it.
Test setup:
2 GHz P4 Willamette, socket 478
1 GB (2x512) Samsung PC133 SDRAM
45 GB 5400 RPM ATA/100 HD
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4600 128 MB AGP 8x
I purposely ran it on a shitty build to see how smoothly it operated.
Pros:
+ Very nice setup UI...not much user input required.
+ The shitty gadgets aren't already on the desktop the first time you log on.
+ UAC isn't popping up all the time...or at all it seems.
+ Boot time is about the same on this build as my gaming PC. So I can deduce that it's way faster than Vista boot time on a normal PC.
Cons:
- The new taskbar is a little strange...not liking it at all!
- Those annoying notifications in the bottom right, but they can be turned off.
That's about all I have to say for now. I didn't extensively test it, but the initial look was very promising.
I'm interested in hearing thoughts from others who have tested it.

im probably not going to... as much good stuff as ive heard, im still a fan of xp. it still does everything that i need it to, and for someone who wants to crack the OS open alot, i need it to be crackable. vista just pisses me off (and i can get a bluescreen within 5 minutes...) and the way microsoft is taking the GUI isnt exactly how i like it.
idk, though, and im open to have my mind changed.
keep me updated.

alright. so heres the deal people.
ive never really had to much respect for windows. anything that breaks as much as windows does doesnt deserve to much. (unix is better)
i can cause a bsod anyday, and not just hardware whatnots. all it takes is a decently writting script and the system is down. 5 minutes of work. maybe.
unix based systems, however, which instead of a bsod have a kernel panic, are much harder to break. ive only, even when im trying, managed to get one twice. and i know how to break systems pretty well.
note to you guys, this doesnt include command-line stuffs, because thats just cheap and i could annihilate any system with one command, after i hacked admin. (which, for the record, isnt possible on unix without a bruteforcer, but windows? yeeeaaaahhh... its definitely unsecure when it doesnt take much work to get admin access...) im talking about just using the os, with programs if necessary.

TOUCH ESKIMO, TOUCH!
ill give windows credit where credit is due. i like it, outside of the fact that its unstable. i couldnt play tf2 without it. and that would blow.
defeated by the eskimo again...
(puts hands in air and screams to the heavens asking why) EESKIMOOOOO!
maybe i should stop with the lame star trek jokes.

thats interesting... id never seen that break before. ive seen alot of things similar, where you crack system through explorer holes, but never that method. most of the stuff that ive seen is in single-user boot. same result though.
and while ive heard about WINE, ive never really done to much with it... might consider if i can get a good linux box up and running.
